How will I complete CPD reflections?

Reflective practice simply requires you to think about how a CPD activity meets your learning needs, and how the ‘take-home’ messages or practical skills gained can be used to improve day-to-day professional practice.

The Optometry Board of Australia (OBA)’s advice on ‘Reflecting on your continuing professional development’ is accessible via: https://www.optometryboard.gov.au/Registration-Standards/CPD.aspx

The OBA CPD Registration Standard requires you to record your reflection on each CPD activity
undertaken. Optometry Australia makes this easy for members with our ‘My CPD Portfolio’ tool Optometry Australia

When writing your reflections consider:
  1. Which learning goal(s) was the CPD activity intended to meet?
  2. What did you learn?
  3. Were your learning goals met?
  4. Will you change your practice as a result of what you learned? If so, how? If claiming interactive hours, refer to the interactive discussion you had.

How will CPD hours be tracked and allocated?

All CPD hours attendance will be tracked for sessions viewed In-Person, virtually (live) and pre-recorded sessions viewed after the conference.

In-Person delegates

All CPD hours attendance will be tracked for sessions viewed In-Person, virtually (live) and pre-recorded sessions viewed after the conference.

Virtual delegates attendance

Virtual delegates will log in to the AVC 2024 virtual platform to view the live-streamed sessions over the weekend. CPD will be automatically tracked through the AVC 2024 virtual platform based on the sessions watched.

You must only be logged on to one device at a time. If you need to change devices, please log out on the first device, and then log in on the second.

Ad-Blockers

Ad-Blocker Pop Up
If you have received the pop up at the top of your screen which states “Ad-blocker Detected - Your browser has an ad-blocker enabled, please disable it to ensure your attendance is not impacted, such as CPD tracking (if relevant). 2. Click Privacy and security
  3. Select Site Settings
  4. Scroll down to Additional permissions.

Prior to reaching out to support team, please try and be aware of what ad-blocker you are using so the team can assist you with disabling your specific ad-blocker. If you are unsure of which ad-blocker you are using, you can click the puzzle piece in the top right of your Chrome Browser which should show you your Google Chrome extensions which should have a list, which may include your ad-blocker, alternatively, you can access this via the instructions above.

Recorded sessions post-conference

CPD for recorded sessions viewed on-demand after the conference will also be automatically tracked through the AVC 2024 virtual platform.

I have registered to attend AVC Virtually, but I can't watch all the sessions live. Can I watch the recorded versions and still gain CPD hours?

Yes, you can, however, in some cases, the CPD hour allocation may be slightly less when accessing a recording as you may not be able to include interactive discussions.

What is on-demand?

On-demand is simply the recordings of plenary and workshop sessions after the event plus a library of pre-recorded presentations.

At AVC 2024, we will be releasing ALL sessions on-demand for 4 months following the conference, so delegates have plenty of time to increase their CPD hours. On-demand will be available via the AVC 2024 Virtual Platform. (Please note if you register for a 1 day only pass, you will only have access to the recordings of that day).

All recorded content will be loaded to the virtual platform and made available to delegates from 9.00am Wednesday 10th April 2024.

On-Demand will be available for 4-months, to midnight 7th August 2024. Reminders will be sent to all delegates before the recordings expire.
